Plan with confidence

Choosing window frame colours: white, anthracite or woodgrain?

Compare finish samples, frame profiles and the effect of colour inside and outside your home.

The useful starting point

Choose a finish from a physical sample and confirm the material and exact product. “Woodgrain” describes an appearance; it does not mean that the frame is solid timber.

Compare a real sample

Screen images vary with lighting and display settings. Ask to see a sample outdoors and indoors, beside the brick, stone, render or paint it needs to complement.

Check texture and sheen as well as colour. A finish may look different across a large frame than on a small chip.

Consider the frame and bars together

Frame width, opening style and glazing-bar layout influence the final appearance. A colour choice cannot by itself reproduce a heritage window’s proportions.

Review a drawing of the exact opening arrangement and confirm handle and hinge finishes along with the frame colour.

Confirm the material and order details

Ask whether the proposed frame is uPVC, aluminium or timber, and whether internal and external finishes can differ. Confirm cleaning and care instructions from the manufacturer.

Put the colour reference, surface finish and profile in the written schedule. That gives the installer a clear record of what you selected.
